Smart Workzone Automation
The Challenge
Active Caltrans highway construction corridors needed real-time workzone monitoring with automated PCMS board messaging based on live sensor data. Existing off-the-shelf solutions couldn't integrate with the legacy field controllers already deployed across the corridor.
The Solution
MRM built custom PCMS controller software, sensor-to-sign automation logic, and a remote management dashboard from scratch. The system translates between legacy serial protocols (NTCIP, SNMP) and modern cloud platforms, allowing real-time speed detection to trigger automated warning messages on portable changeable message signs.
